About Michelle
Born and raised in Boiling Springs, PA, Michelle Kay Smith is a graduate of James Madison University where she studied Theatre and Music.
At JMU, Michelle worked with Ricky J. Martinez, Artistic Director of the New Theatre in Miami, participated in KCACTF, first fell in love with Shakespeare, and only attended 3 football games.
Since graduating, Michelle has been performing and teaching with theatres throughout the US; there was even a brief stint teaching cooking classes to toddlers in SOHO... but that is a much better story in person!
In August, Michelle completed three seasons as a Core Company Actor with Gamut Theatre performing Shakespeare, improv, and theatre for young audiences. In addition to performing, she worked with over 1,000 students as a teacher, director, choreographer, and fight captain. Her most recent Gamut role was Bottom in the 25th Anniversary Free Shakespeare in the Park production, A Midsummer Night's Dream.
Michelle moved back to New York City in September. She performs Sundays at the Broadway Comedy Club with The Exuberants improv troupe. She will be performing in February with the Black Box Project and the New York City Winter Fest. She is excited to work on two original productions this month and can't wait to discover the next adventure!
